One Of July’s Free PS Plus Games Has Leaked Online

It’s always best to take any kind of video game leak with a grain of salt, but I have a pretty good feeling about at least one of July’s free PlayStation Plus titles which has recently leaked online.

One way to gauge the validity of a leak is by the leaker’s track record. For July’s PS Plus title, the leaker already got one detail right.

The leak in question is for the Medieval adventure game A Plague Tale: Innocence. Prior to E3, a leaker said that the game was getting a next-gen remaster. Sure enough, at E3 the remaster was announced—along with the excellent looking sequel, A Plague Tale: Requiem.

The second half of the leaker’s prediction was that A Plague Tale: Innocence Remastered would be July’s PS Plus game on PS5. That has yet to come true, but judging by the accuracy of the Remaster leak, it’s at the very least a pretty safe bet. That is not always the case with PS Plus leaks—or any video game leaks, for that matter.

Is this good or bad news for PS Plus subscribers? Quite good actually. A Plague Tale: Innocence is not only a gorgeous-looking game (sure to be even better on PS5) it’s also a harrowing adventure through a Medieval France laid low by a mysterious rat plague. It’s a stealth-action game where you play as Amicia, guiding her brother Hugo through burning villages, hiding from the ruthless Inquisition and using your wit and a handful of special concoctions—like fire bombs—to stay alive.

The remastered version of the game sounds excellent, bringing 4K resolution, 60 frames-per-second and support for 3D audio to the title. We still don’t know the price, but the release date for the remaster is July 6th. That’s the first Tuesday of July, which tracks pretty well for a PS Plus release. We’ll likely get a PlayStation Plus announcement on Wednesday, June 30th, so we’ll know for sure then. Stay tuned . . . .
